Student Engagement
In 2016 our overall attendance improved by 3% and is now 89.3% which is the national average for a decile 1 school at 86% and is the same as
the national average for all schools at 89.2% (Education Counts, 2014). The area with the lowest attendance is Years 1, 3 and 7. Year 1 is 88.1%
Year 3 is 86.75% and Year 7 is 88.6%.
Review of Charter and Consultation
Parents and students have helped redesign our values, learning qualities and student leaver goals through homework projects, newsletters
and hui-meetings. The local iwi Whakatohea were consulted and a meeting between the Whakatohea Education Group and Opotiki Primary
took place in early February to work together on this charter.
